Chibi Chinese Dragon Hoard
Nothing is more truly mystical and Chinese than the Chinese dragon; This majestic and graceful Chinese Dragon guards his hoard located high in the Chinese sky like any other dragon would . But unlike his western dragons cousins this dragon does not hoard gold but food!(specifically Chinese food ) and this dragon (and his Chinese food hoard) are chibified. who knew an angry Dragon and his hoard could be so cute (Or Kawaii in Anime/Japanese slang).
This was quite the project if I do say so myself. This idea of a chibi Anime Chinese dragon began actually in a Chinese restaurant (well a Hibachi (Japanese) restaurant). Back during this time I was obsessed with Chinese/Asian food and loved to eat at Hibachi. On our way to the checkout after eating there I saw a jade statue of a Chinese dragon and got an idea for an art project to show my love for Chinese food: A drawing of an anime chibi Chinese dragon around a bunch of Chinese food I love. The goal was to combine traditional Chinese art styles within the anime style; a challenge that turned out pretty good. And for the food I made them smaller thus cuter (or kawaii ) anime traditional Chinese foods, these cute foods became this cute dragon’s hoard and finally I decided to shade the anime to a magna-looking print style. It turned out very well, just how I would imagine it would look like.
